THIS DAY IN HISTORY

One hundred years ago today, June 30th, 1908, the Tunguska Event occurred. A comet or a meteorite exploded in the air over Siberia with the force of a nuclear explosion.

The blast leveled 2150 square kilometers.

The event garnered little interest at the time and was not even investigated until the 1920s. However, it is believed that the events of the Russian Revolution delayed the investigation.
