WACK JOB “ARCHAEOLOGIST” CONS AMERICAN AND INTERNATIONAL MEDIA WITH “BOSNIAN PYRAMID” CLAIM.

A story on April 27th’s on-line Yahoo[i] reported that so-called “experts, researchers, archeologists” discovered a giant pyramid beneath a mountain in Bosnia.

Per the credulous lines in the AP story, reprinted by Yahoo:

"These are the first uncovered walls of the pyramid," Semir Osmanagic, a Bosnian archaeologist who studied the pyramids of Latin America for 15 years, said of the stonework found Wednesday.

Osmanagic believes the structure will prove to be 722 feet high, or a third taller than Egypt's Great Pyramid of Giza.

Legitimate scientists wasted no time exposing the fraud and the fraudster, Osmanagic. Mark Rose writes in “Archeology”[ii], the publication of the Archaeological Institute of America:

Construction of massive pyramids in Bosnia at that period is not believable. Curtis Runnels, a specialist in the prehistory of Greece and the Balkans at Boston University, notes that "Between 27,000 and 12,000 years ago, the Balkans were locked in the last Glacial maximum, a period of very cold and dry climate with glaciers in some of the mountain ranges.

According to the Rose story in "Archaeology", the only occupants were Upper Paleolithic hunters and gatherers who left behind open-air camp sites and traces of occupation in caves. These remains consist of simple stone tools, hearths, and remains of animals and plants that were consumed for food. These people did not have the tools or skills to engage in the construction of monumental architecture.

The pedigree of Osmanagic is equally implausible, “A self-described archaeologist, who believes the Maya and others are descended from Atlanteans who came from the Pleiades, has been accepted as a legitimate researcher by many news outlets.”[iii]

AND WHO CAN WONDER WHY MANY AMERICANS WORSHIP CRYSTALS OR BELIEVE HUMANS WERE “CREATED” IN THEIR PRESENT FORM 10,000 YEARS AGO?

There is a plethora of economic and finance news to address as the Author prepares this post. But sometimes a dope slap is on order. What has the press devolved to when it does not research stories and does not use qualified science writers to prepare stories? It has become the pandering and pliable mouthpiece of junk science, junk politicians, and junk entertainers. Junk news for a junk nation.
